Uses of coconut oil
Coconut oil for face :
Coconut oil serves as an excellent moisturiser due to its high vitamin E and fatty acid content. It helps to increase hydration and reduce water loss. Its antifungal and antibacterial properties also make it a wonderful natural facial cleanser. Rub the oil into your face and neck with your fingers in a circular motion and leave it on for sometime before washing your face for soft and supple skin. You can also make a great facial scrub by mixing a few tablespoons of warm coconut oil with equal amounts of sugar.
Coconut oil for hair :
Coconut oil helps to keep the scalp moisturised and also keeps dandruff away. As an intensive conditioner apply about 2-3 tsp of warm coconut oil on your hair and scalp. Leave it on overnight and then wash with a gentle shampoo.
Coconut oil for cooking :
Coconut oil is abundant in lauric acid, a type of saturated fatty acid that mainly increases HDL, the healthy type of cholesterol. Coconut oil contains medium-chain triglycerides, which are used directly for energy production by your body as opposed to long chain triglycerides that need to be broken down. Coconut oil, being mainly a saturated fat, is able to withstand higher temperatures than other oils, making it one of the best oils for cooking. It also gives a delicious taste and superb texture to foods.
